Managing network costs & energy brokerage

From reviewing tariffs to securing the best fuel deals, these questions help you manage your heat network’s running costs and stay compliant while doing it.

Select a question.
Why is a tariff review important?

It ensures you’re recovering all your heat network’s operational costs without overcharging residents. It also helps you to stay transparent with your residents and prepares you for upcoming heat network regulations.

Read our one-pager for more information or contact your Account Manager to get a quote.

How often should I review my tariff?

Every 6 to 12 months is a good benchmark, and to make sure you fully recover your costs, we recommend reviewing your tariff before your new incoming fuel contract comes into effect. That way there’s enough time to complete the review and give residents the standard 31 days’ notice of any increases.

Your Account Manager will also remind you when it’s time to update your tariffs.

How long does a tariff review take?

Usually around 10 working days from the moment we receive instruction, through to reviewing your energy costs and network performance, calculating the tariff, and sharing the outcome with residents.

To keep things moving, please return any requested information and review proposals promptly.

Can Insite carry out brokerage services on my behalf?

Yes, we can. Our team will help you compare quotes, understand contract terms, and choose the right deal for your network. Before we proceed, we’ll just need a letter of authority (LOA), so we can request quotes on your behalf.

You’ll find more details in our one-pager, or you can contact your Account Manager to get a quote.

As heat supplier, you’ll sign the contract and hold the financial responsibility, but we’ll guide you through the process from start to finish.

If you are unhappy with the service, you can view our Energy Brokerage services complaints handling procedure to see how to raise a concern and what to expect.

Do you charge commission on your energy brokerage services?

Yes, we do. It covers the time, expertise and market insight we use to help secure the best deals.

The commission charged varies, but we’ll talk it through with you early on and make sure it’s clearly outlined from the start.

For more information, get in touch with your Account Manager. They’ll be happy to walk you through it.
